Well hello there
Hi everyone, and thanks for visiting my new blog!
After 12 years of teaching language arts in the classroom, I'm so excited to be starting a new position as my district's K-8 librarian next week! Since a big part of my job will include helping kids find the perfect book for them, I decided to organize all of my reading reviews and recommendations in one place. I'll be adding to this throughout the year, sharing new titles that I love, author events and reading conferences I've attended, and other literacy-related activities and projects.
A quick tour of the site...
You can find my current recommendations under "Favorite Books by Category" Here you will find reviews for picture books, graphic novels, chapter books for young readers (and the young at heart!), novels for teens & adults, as well as professional resources for fellow educators. All the titles I've include on my blog were published within the past decade, and most are from just the past few years. This helped me narrow down the books I included, and hopefully is helpful for those trying to keep up with current literature!
I also included a tab called "Read Alikes" to provide ideas for what to read next after some popular titles, such as Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Harry Potter, The Hunger Games, Wonder, and more (and yes, I even included books that might be enjoyed by those who play Fortnite!)
If you're interested in seeing everything I've been reading lately, this is under "My Reading Archive," which will take you to my Goodreads account. Here you'll find links to reviews and more information about each title. (If you're also on Goodreads, add me as a friend! I love to see what others are reading.) I also have a page called "Author Events" with photos and short write-ups from some of the incredible authors I've been lucky enough to meet over the past few years!
Anyway, thanks for visiting, and hope to see you back here soon! If you're interested, you can subscribe to the blog and get email notifications when I publish a new post. Happy reading!!
